St. John Bosco knew that each young person was unique, with different gifts and different needs. And yet all are meant to flourish, to succeed, to excel.
This is the rationale that guides our new Salesian Learning Needs Program at Salesian High School. Aware that students learn differently, this program provides appropriate support services tailored to each student’s documented needs. In this manner, we facilitate their learning and prepare them for post-secondary education.
We are happy to have Maureen Moriarty heading up our Learning Needs Program. She brings a rich background in education to the small group instruction, mentoring, tutoring and other support services she provides our students. She also serves as a resource to other faculty members, helping them learn how to give students accommodations and to scaffold lessons.
Through Salesian’s Academic Support Program, our students who learn differently are being prepared for life, developing habits of self-advocacy and personal responsibility that will serve them well going forward.
