Spencer Boateng was considered a conscientious, caring, diligent student-athlete at Salesian High. During his time at Salesian, he was a part of the Honors Program, where he excelled. Outside of the classroom, he helped the varsity basketball team win a back-to-back CHSAA City Championships (2010-11) and the 2011 CHSAA State Championship. In 2016, he returned to Salesian as a varsity assistant coach to help capture a CHSAA State Championship.
After Salesian, Boateng graduated from Iona College, where he walked on the basketball team and won the MAAC Championship in 2013, and earned an NCAA tournament berth.
Now, Spencer is the Interim head coach for the City College of New York (CCNY) men’s basketball team. Boateng previously served as the assistant coach for the Beavers for the past two seasons. Boateng came to CCNY after spending one season as an assistant coach at Manhattanville College.
We are grateful to have a special person like Spencer representing Salesian nationally by exemplifying our mission statement!
